PA President Abbas’ Fatah Party Publishes Cartoon Showing Jew Bombing Muslim World

Fatah Information and Culture Commission website

TEL AVIV – Israel orchestrated Muslim infighting between Sunnis and Shiites in order to destroy both groups, or so claims a new cartoon published by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party.

The cartoon, published on Fatah’s Information and Culture Commission website, features a stereotypical hook-nosed ultra-Orthodox Jew sporting an Israeli flag armband. He is about to detonate a bomb. Inside the bomb, a Sunni and a Shi’ite Muslim are also igniting bombs to blow each other up.

The heading “no comment” accompanies the cartoon. The comment, however, is clear. The big-nosed image of a Jew and the idea that Jews control the world – to the point that they also control sectarian fighting among Muslims – is an old anti-Semitic trope.

But Palestinian Media Watch points out that the cartoon may also be critiquing Muslims for being so involved in fighting each other that they do not notice the Jew taking advantage of their rivalry to put an end to them both.

Cartoons inciting violence against Jews and Israelis or depicting Jews as money-grubbing terrorists are regularly published by Palestinian newspapers and official websites.

A Fatah-owned Palestinian TV station recently broadcast a cartoon showing Jews siding with the devil to fight Muslims and the prophet Muhammad.

Last month, a Fatah senior official and aide to Abbas said during an interview with Palestinian news site Donia al-Watan, “Wherever you find an Israeli, slit his throat.”
