The California Highway Patrol announced the arrest Wednesday of Yvonne Felarca, a.k.a. Yvette Felarca, a leader in the so-called “Antifa” (anti-fascist) movement, on charges related to a June 2016 riot in Sacramento.

The charges were “inciting and participating in a riot and assault likely to cause great bodily injury,” according to the Associated Press.

At the time, Breitbart News reported:

Seven people were sent to the hospital with stab wounds, two with life-threatening injuries, on Sunday afternoon as Black Bloc anarchists attacked and fought with white supremacist groups outside the state Capitol in Sacramento.

Several other demonstrators who managed to avoid the hospital suffered bruises after the groups engaged in a chaotic melee.

The Black Bloc activists were part of a militant leftist “anti-fascist” group,”Antifa Sacramento.” The right-wing extremists were members of the Traditionalist Worker Party and the Golden State Skinheads, and were holding a permitted rally.

Members of “anti-fascist” groups like the ones who attacked protestors [sic] have also been been responsible for a number of attacks around the country, including attacks on Donald Trump supporters at recent rallies. Some of these attacks follow hyperbolic allegations by some on the left (and even some on the right, such as Glenn Beck) that Donald Trump is “Hitler.”

Felarca is well-known in the Bay Area as the leader and public face of the radical militant group By Any Means Necessary, which did not return calls from the AP for comment on her arrest.

She was one of the organizers behind the riot against then-Breitbart News tech editor Milo Yiannopoulos at the University of California Berkeley in February. She said at the time that she had “no regrets” about the violence that resulted on campus: “Milo Yiannopoulos is a fascist. He’s a white supremacist. He’s funded by Steve Bannon and Breitbart. He’s an accolade of Donald Trump. And he was on the UC Berkeley campus to try to recruit more fascists and to wage attacks on Muslim students, immigrant students, women and trans students.”

“The left has been far too timid for far too long,” she said.

There have been arrests on both sides of the Sacramento riot, with one arrest thus far of a right-wing protester and three arrests of left-wing counter-protesters.
