North Korea Threatens South Korea with Military Strike…By Fax

Are fax machines still a viable means of communication? They are if you are part of the North Korean government and your intent is to threaten South Korea with an attack.

According to CNN, “North Korea sent a fax to South Korea on [December 19th] threatening to ‘strike mercilessly without notice'” after protests against North Korea were allowed to take place in Seoul.

North Korea was bothered by the fact the second anniversary of the death of Kim Jong Il was marked by celebration in Seoul.

South Korea responded via wire that “if North Korea is to carry out provocation, we will firmly retaliate.”

The CNN report said Pyongyang “routinely threatens to retaliate after what it considers” to be “provocations.” These include protests against the North by South Korean groups.
