MIAMI, Oct. 27 (UPI) — Jacoby Brissett and Omar Cooper Jr. are among my fantasy football waiver wire priorities for Week 8 of the NFL season.
Caleb Douglas, Jonah Coleman, Bam Knight, Hunter Henry and the Cincinnati Bengals defense/special teams are among my other targets.
My waiver wire priorities each carry an ownership percentage of 60% or less.
Players from the Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers, who are on bye, should be benched or even dropped, in some cases.
Here are my top players to add and top players to drop for Week 8:
ALL-ADD TEAM
QB | Jacoby Brissett, Michael Penix Jr.; RB | Jonah Coleman, Rachaad White, Bam Knight; WR | Omar Cooper Jr., Caleb Douglas; TE | Hunter Henry, T.J. Hockenson; D/ST | Cincinnati Bengals; K | Cam Little
HONORABLE MENTIONS
QB | Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield; RB | Dameon Pierce, Samaje Perine; WR | Jakobi Myers, Tre Tucker, Ryan Flournoy; TE | Brenton Stranger, Chig Okonkwo; D/ST | Jacksonville Jaguars; K | Tyler Bass
TOP DROPS
QB | Kirk Cousins; RB | Tyjae Spears; WR | Jaylin Noel; TE | Juwan Johnson; D/ST | Baltimore Ravens; K | Dominic Zvada
QUARTERBACK
Jacoby Brissett was a fringe QB1 in Week 7. The Arizona Cardinals veteran threw just one score over the last two weeks, but I expect multiple touchdown tosses from the veteran passer in Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Brissett continues to reach respectable yardage totals. He should be a Top 10 play this week against a Cowboys defense that has allowed the eighth most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks so far this season. He is a solid streaming play.
RUNNING BACK
Jonah Coleman is my top running back target. The Denver Broncos rookie ball carrier logged a season-high 69 yards from scrimmage off 11 touches in Week 7.
Coleman led all Broncos running backs with 30 offensive snaps in Week 7. That total was 14 more than R.J. Harvey and 16 more than JK Dobbins.
He should continue to get work, albeit on an inconsistent basis. I would pick up Coleman, but he should only be used as a low-end flex play.
WIDE RECEIVER
Omar Cooper Jr. is my top overall waiver wire priority for Week 8. The New York Jets rookie provided back-to-back weeks of WR1 level production, including a 115-yard, one-score performance Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
Cooper, who totaled 103 yards and a score in Week 6, is unlikely to go three consecutive weeks with similar performances, but he should maintain WR2 value going forward. This week, the Jets also will face a Las Vegas Raiders defense that tied for allowing the fifth-most receiving scores per game to wide receivers through seven weeks.
Cooper can be plugged in as a WR3.
TIGHT END
Hunter Henry is among my top tight end targets for Week 8. The New England Patriots veteran scored in two of the last three weeks. He also hauled in a season-high seven catches for 71 yards in Week 7.
Look for Henry’s involvement to continue this week against a Miami Dolphins defense that allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to tight ends through seven weeks.
Henry is a near lock for at least five catches. He should be a Top 5 tight end play if he finds the end zone for his third score in four weeks.
