Oct. 2 (UPI) — Duke signed men’s basketball coach Jon Scheyer to a two-year contract extension, the school announced Thursday. He led the Blue Devils to a 35-4 record in 2024.
His new pact will expire after the 2030-31 season.
“Jon’s remarkable impact over his first three seasons has positioned Duke basketball for sustained excellence, and we are proud to ensure his leadership well into the future,” Blue Devils athletics director Nina King said in a news release.
“He has delivered championships and national prominence, and he continues to lead a program built on character, connection and a relentless pursuit of greatness.
“Jon’s vision for Duke basketball aligns perfectly with our highest aspirations, and we couldn’t be more excited for the future of this program under his leadership.”
Scheyer has an overall record of 89-22 over his three seasons with the Blue Devils. They ranked as high as No. 1 in the nation, won the ACC regular-season and tournament titles and advanced to the Final Four in 2024-25, where they lost to Houston.
Scheyer’s 89 wins are tied with Brad Stevens and Brad Underwood for the most victories in history for a Division I men’s basketball coach through three seasons.
The Blue Devils will face UCF in an exhibition game Oct. 21 in Durham N.C. They will play Tennessee in another exhibition matchup Oct. 27 in Knoxville, Tenn.
Duke will host Texas in the season opener Nov. 4 in Durham.
