Anti-police protesters are currently marching the streets of New York City in defiance of Mayor Bill De Blasio’s request to cease demonstrations after the execution of two police officers on Saturday.

The protesters, spurred by the grand jury decisions not to prosecute officers in the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, have made their way to 5th Avenue, shouting slogans accusing cops of racism and snarling traffic.

The Answer Coalition said it would go through with the march, which it says was planned long before Saturday night’s murders [of officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu]. They denounced the mayor for asking for a moratorium on protests, saying that would be an “outrageous” attempt to chill free speech.
