EXCLUSIVE: Huckabee Corrects Mainstream Media, ‘Washington Post has A Real Nose for News’

Breitbart News caught up with GOP presidential candidate Gov. Mike Huckabee as he served sandwiches and met with voters at Chick-fil-A in Anderson, South Carolina.

We asked him about the liberal media’s attack on fellow GOP candidate Donald Trump’s immigration comments, and Huckabee’s own appearance on CNN referencing the issue.

The Huffington Post ran a story incorrectly quoting Huckabee rather than Mitt Romney from a video clip, which was played Sunday during Huckabee’s appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” to get a response to Romney’s criticism of Trump’s statements.

Huckabee posted earlier on Facebook about the mistake, saying the Washington Post deserves “Four Pinocchios” for the reporting error.

“I would say that it was a little interesting when the Huffington Post ran the story. They could clearly see it was Mitt Romney in a video clip that Jake Tapper asked me to respond to, so then the Huffington Post runs an article saying I had said what was clearly Mitt Romney’s comment,” Huckabee explained to Breitbart News.

“Granted, I’m sure they could easily mistake Mitt Romney for me – me for Mitt Romney – both very handsome guys, I get that,” Huckabee joked. “But then the Washington Post repeated verbatim the story as if they didn’t get their own story.”

The major journalism factual error caused the Huckabee campaign to go into overdrive, correcting the waterfall of incorrect reports from the original write up from the Huffington Post and Washington Post.

“Our staff spent the better part of a day having to follow up with the media and tell them ‘hey, did you watch the clip because if you did, you know it wasn’t Huckabee’s statement, it was Romney’s statement’,” Huckabee told Breitbart News.

“We know one thing, the Washington Post has a real nose for news,” he concluded.

Huckabee stopped earlier in Seneca, South Carolina – near fellow GOP candidate Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-SC) hometown – and had standing room only during his event with roughly 30 to 50 people out the door. He will appear at the Anderson Civic Center with Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) this evening.
