Iraq Veteran Wounded by Iranian Bomb Speaks Out Against Iran Nuclear Deal

A new group called Veterans Against the Deal has produced its first viral video criticizing President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran, featuring medically-retired Staff Sgt. Robert Bartlett.

Bartlett makes a powerful case for remembering Iran’s sponsorship of terrorism around the world, including their nefarious activities in Iraq. Bartlett himself will never forget what Iran did in Iraq, for reasons he makes painfully clear.

“Every politician who is involved in this will be held accountable, they will have blood on their hands,” says Bartlett, after recounting the story of how an Iranian bomb covered most of his body with literal blood. “A vote for this deal means more money for Iranian terrorism. What do you think they are going to do when they get more money?”

“They had kidnapped little kids from neighboring villages, and put bullets in their heads, killed them in front of the other villagers and said, ‘We’re gonna run our bombs out of here.’ That’s who we’re making a deal with,” Bartlett recalled of the people President Obama plans to reward, some of them personally, with $150 billion in sanctions relief, plus invaluable international prestige, while putting them on the glide path to nuclear weapons.

Note that President Obama himself has confirmed Bartlett’s assertion that Iran will have more money to spend on terrorism after this stunning financial windfall—and Obama made that admission in his big news conference selling the nuclear deal.

Obama also admitted that the big payoff was unlikely to convince Iran to give up on terrorism, which is a silly dodge —this deal will incentivize Iran to sponsor more terrorism. They are being lavishly rewarded for using those tactics to bring the United States to a “negotiating process” that ended up being more like an American and European surrender ceremony.

Josh Rogin, writing for Bloomberg News, notes that this first ad from Veterans Against the Deal was designed to run in Montana, which is why Democrat Sen. John Tester is pictured at the end. More ads are planned for other states, including North Dakota and West Virginia, while the group also plans to provide veterans to speak at public events.

“Our main argument is that veterans know Iran better than Washington, D.C., does. You’ve got a lot of veterans out there who are pretty upset about this, so we are looking to capture their voices and make sure they are heard,” Veterans Against the Deal executive director Michael Pregent told Rogin.

He also noted that his group is well-positioned to counter Obama’s last-ditch talking point that opponents of his nuclear deal are bloodthirsty warmongers who want to do the Iraq War all over again. In addition to Iraq veterans wounded by Iranian weapons and the families of soldiers who did not make it home—a group that should be rather difficult for Obama to accuse of making “common cause” with Iranian “hardliners”—there are service members injured in the 1983 bombing of the Marines in Beirut by Iran’s puppet Hezbollah.

In order to sell the deal to the American people, President Obama and his team have to scrub a huge amount of Iranian bloodshed from the pages of history. Those who shed the blood are doing their country, and the free people of the world, another service by helping us to remember everything we’re supposed to forget.

Hopefully they’re ready for Obama’s political hit squad—currently involved in accusing all Jewish Americans who oppose the deal of having dual loyalties to Israel—to take its shot at them.
