An information technology administrator at the White House is one name in the hacked data of subscribers to the cheating website Ashley Madison, according to the Associated Press.
A White House spokesman told the Associated Press that he couldn’t comment on the matter and the identified technology administrator in the White House did not return emailed requests for comment.
The latest White House salary data released to Congress lists more than a dozen information services operators that are paid from about $44,000 to over $70,000 salaries.
The news outlet has traced more than two dozen other Obama’s administration officials to the website including people from the departments of State, Defense, Justice, Energy, Treasury, Transportation and Homeland Security.
According to the Associated Press, they have decided not to release the names of the exposed officials “because they are not elected officials or accused of a crime.”
The Justice Department was hit hard, as the Associated Press has identified at least two assistant U.S. attorneys, a division chief, an investigator and a trial attorney in the Department.
One investigator spoke to the news organization admitting that he was “doing some things I shouldn’t have been doing,” but did not comment on the record.
“He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was deeply embarrassed and not authorized by the government to speak to reporters using his name,” the Associated Press notes.
