Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) is furious that House GOP leadership is considering holding a vote on a resolution of disapproval of President Barack Obama’s nuclear arms deal with the Islamic Republican of Iran under the terms of the Iran deal constructs put forward in legislation approved earlier this year from Sens. Bob Corker (R-TN) and Ben Cardin (D-MD).

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s vote schedule for this week shows that the Iran deal vote in the House could be either Thursday or Friday. Democratic Whip Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) is predicting that the vote will be on Friday—which is Sept. 11, the fourteenth anniversary of Al Qaeda’s terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers in New York and the Pentagon in Northern Virginia.

That House GOP leadership is even considering that such a vote schedule infuriates Gohmert—especially since leadership is not treating the Iran deal like the treaty he says it is, something that would give Congress a shot at killing the deal.

Gohmert told Breitbart News:

Having a vote on the Iran Treaty on September 11th, IF it is under the auspices of the Corker bill, would establish the biggest contrast between the epic sacrificial courage of all those who gave their lives saving others in 2001, and fourteen years later some of the most cowardly political weevils this country has ever produced. Everyone with any Constitutional understanding, who has read the Iran agreement, knows that it is a treaty; and, allowing Iran the vast money and latitude and secret side agreements will not only permit, but also assist Iran in having nuclear weapons that they will use.

Gohmert reminded Breitbart News, too, of the leadership Americans nationwide showed in the wake of the 9-11 terrorist attacks. He said:

On September 11th, fourteen years ago, unelected American leaders showed courage and determination that saved massive numbers of lives. If we have the Corker vote on September 11th this year, it will provide an exhibition of determination to avoid showing any courage by allowing the largest sponsor of terrorism to create more and bigger 9-11’s in the future. Even the agreement we know of has already been violated with plans announced by Iran to violate it further.

Gohmert ended his statement by noting that if GOP leadership goes through with this plan—on 9-11 or not—then they are no better than pre-World War II British prime minister Neville Chamberlain, who infamously inaccurately predicted that German dictator Adolf Hitler would not be a problem.

“If Republican leaders in the House and Senate follow the Corker scenario, while knowing fully that is it does not apply, then the foolish cowardice of Neville Chamberlain in 1938 will pale by comparison,” Gohmert said.

McCarthy’s office did not provide a comment in response to a request. McCarthy is House Speaker John Boehner’s right hand man, and this move by leadership to just allow the Iran deal through without much of a fight could play into an effort that’s gaining steam to remove Boehner as Speaker of the House.
