Police in South Carolina have arrested two men after being alerted to a video posted on social media, showing the pair torturing chained dogs with exploding fireworks.

After receiving tips from the public, Rock Hill, South Carolina, police arrested 25-year-old Tevin Anderson and 21-year-old Deangelo Roseboro. Authorities say the pair threw dozens of lit fireworks at the dogs last Friday while making a video of their actions.

The video shows the two suspects laughing and tossing lit fireworks at two dogs. At one point in the video, one animal tries to retreat to a dog shelter but then becomes trapped there, terrified as the men begin throwing fireworks inside of the shelter.

“The explosives were placing the dogs in imminent danger of serious injuries and burns. The explosives were certainly tormenting the dogs mentally,” police said.

After the investigation, police were awarded a search warrant which was served at the home where the video was shot. Inside the residence, police discovered more fireworks and other evidence. Several dogs were also found and delivered into the care of animal control officers.

Officials report that the dogs were injured and in bad health but are expected to recover after veterinary care.

Anderson was arrested Tuesday and charged with three counts of animal cruelty as well as possession of cocaine.

Roseboro was charged with three counts of animal cruelty after his arrest on Wednesday.

Police also discovered that Roseboro was already out on bond stemming from the murder case of a Chester City councilman.
