President-elect Donald Trump is sending his thoughts and prayers to the people affected by the wildfires and tornadoes in the Southeastern part of the country.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their homes and lost loved ones,” Trump’s spokesman Jason Miller told reporters on Thursday morning.
Earlier on Thursday, Trump put out a tweet of his own about the storms.
My thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the tragic storms and tornadoes in the Southeastern United States. Stay safe!

Five people are reportedly dead after more than a dozen storms have ripped across the South, according to weather.com. The tornadoes occurred in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and Tennessee.
According to NBC News, seven people have died as damage is assessed in Tennessee after a wildfire erupted at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The number of people remain missing is unknown at this time.
