Salt Lake County Jail

A homeowner in Murray, Utah, shot and killed a suspect who allegedly made “unwanted entry” into the house.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, police indicate the suspect entered the home around 7 p.m. Sunday, at which time the homeowner “confronted [him] and fired multiple shots.”

The Associated Press reports that the suspect, Andrew W. Miller, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Murray Police Department spokesman Kenny Bass made clear there was evidence indicative of a forced entry into the home. He also indicated that the homeowner and the deceased suspect were not known to each other prior to the fatal encounter.
