Rap megastar Nicki Minaj declared at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest on Sunday her decision to speak out politically comes from getting “tired of being pushed around,” adding, “I’m not going to back down ever again.”

After being asked by Erika Kirk why she is now “speaking about politics,” Minaj replied, “I just got tired of being pushed around,” which elicited a thunderous applause from tens of thousands of AmericaFest attendees in the audience.

“Sometimes you just get tired of it, and then you realize, ‘Wait a minute, I have something inside of me that’s stronger than what’s out there,'” the “Super Bass” singer continued.

“When you’ve had enough, you realize, ‘Wait a minute, why do I even care about these people and what they think? Who are they? They don’t even know who they are,” Minaj added.

The rap superstar went on to declare, “I’m not going to back down anymore,” adding, “I’m not going to back down ever again.”

Minaj replied to Turning Point USA’s X post sharing video footage of the moment with an American flag emoji.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Erika Kirk asked Minaj what her reaction is to “getting a lot of backlash” from people in her industry over her political views.

“I didn’t notice,” Minaj quipped.

“We don’t even think about them. We’re the cool kids,” the “Anaconda” singer added. “The other people, they’re the ones who are still just disgruntled, but really they’re just disgruntled with themselves.”

“They are angry with themselves,” Minaj continued. “So, you can’t wake up and think about somebody who is determined to just stay mad. I literally tell them, ‘Stay mad.'”

“Because we’re going to stay joyful, and peaceful, and iconic, and smart, and we’re going to stay thinkers in a world that doesn’t want us to think,” the “Starships” singer asserted.

Recently, Minaj has been more outspoken about political issues, praising President Donald Trump for intervening and taking the “mass slaughter” of Christians in Nigeria by radical Islamists “seriously,” and blasting California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) over his stance on making children transgender.

But Minaj’s decision to appear at AmericaFest, where she elaborated on her views onstage, took it to the next level, with many seeing the singer’s move to speak more boldly as a nod in support of Turning Point USA’s founder, slain conservative icon and free speech martyr Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on September 10 while engaging in open dialogue.

A source familiar with the planning logistics of Turning Point USA’s 2025 AmericaFest told Breitbart News that arrangements for Minaj to attend the event transpired after Kirk’s assassination.

Turning Point USA’s annual end-of-the year conference — the organization’s first AmericaFest since the horrific assassination of its founder — attracted over 30,000 attendees, making this year’s bittersweet event the largest in Turning Point USA history.
