Franklin Graham on Friday remembered his father — the great Christian evangelist Billy Graham — on the seven year anniversary of his entry to heaven.
“#OnThisDay seven years ago, my father Billy Graham went home to Heaven. In many ways, it is hard to believe he has been gone that long,” Graham said, sharing a powerful quote from his late father.
“He spoke of his death long before it happened and said, ‘Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.'”
Countless commenters offered their comforting words and gratitude for the impact Billy Graham had on so many.
“Billy Graham was faithful and his crusades were a blessing! We recently watched a documentary on his life … loved seeing this!” on Facebook commenter said.
“One of the greatest evangelist that there ever was as far as I’m concerned, remember my father listening to him even when we were little, we would gather around together as a family and listen to evangelist Billy Graham, what a man of God he was,” another remarked.
“Oh my goodness l love what he said. Loved watching your father preach. Great was his reward when he got to heaven. I can see many coming up to him in heaven and saying because of you l got saved. He was a great man of God,” another added.
X commenters were just as kind, as many reiterated that Graham was a blessing on their lives.
“Few people have had the influence in and on the world as your dad. However, his legacy is still alive through you and so many others,” one said.
“While he looked forward to the day he’d step into Heaven, @BillyGraham lived his life dedicated to preaching the Gospel until God called him home on Feb. 21, 2018,” the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association wrote on the anniversary of his move to heaven.
“Today, we thank God for his service to the Lord and for using BGEA to reach millions worldwide with the Good News!” it added:
President Donald Trump has revealed hopes to honor Graham with a sculpture as part of his proposed National Garden of American Heroes, describing Graham as someone who “everybody loved.”
