Dec. 24 (UPI) — Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield has not been shy about displaying his feelings toward former Browns head coach Hue Jackson.

It was no different on Sunday afternoon when Mayfield appeared to stare down his former coach after a game-clinching pass in the fourth quarter of the Browns’ 26-18 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Mayfield connected with tight end David Njoku on a 66-yard completion to put the game on ice. The rookie gunslinger strutted down the sideline while glaring at Jackson after the deep pass.

After the game, Mayfield decided to take the high road when asked by reporters about his latest jab at Jackson.

“No, no idea what you’re talking about,” he said.

Mayfield stuck with his answer even when told that social media was covered with videos of the incident.

“That is alright. We won. David did not score on that play,” Mayfield added.

Browns interim head coach Gregg Williams also downplayed the staredown.

“Oh, no,” Williams said with a laugh. “I am onto now the Ravens. I did not see it so that will be something I will chit chat next week about.”

Mayfield has guided Cleveland to a 5-2 record since the firing of Jackson back in October. Mayfield has defeated the Bengals twice with Jackson on the sideline. He was hired by Cincinnati as a special assistant to head coach Marvin Lewis shortly after his termination.

Jackson’s move to the division rival Bengals didn’t sit well with Mayfield and he hasn’t been coy about showing his emotions. Previously, Mayfield gave his old coach the cold shoulder after their first meeting this season, followed by calling Jackson “fake” under a post on social media.

Mayfield threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73 percent of his passes against the Bengals on Sunday. He has completed 64.6 percent of his passes with 3,349 yards, 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in his rookie campaign.

Jackson posted a 3-36-1 record in three seasons with the Browns before being relieved.
