The Obama administration has taken extensive efforts to try to recoup some 2,600 three-year work permits issued in violation of a federal district court’s injunction halting President Obama’s executive amnesty programs — expanded DACA and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA). USCIS is simply replacing the three-year permits with the allowable two-year documents. Latino groups are complaining.

Gowdy sparred with the lone witness at the hearing, DHS Sec. In his opening statement during a House Judiciary Committee DHS oversight hearing Goodlatte revealed that from July 2012 to February 2015 the number of criminal immigrants — either in removal proceedings or with final orders of removals — on the streets has increased 28 percent. “Because of the failure by this and previous administrations to detain criminal aliens, and the failure to vigorously pursue fugitives, there are almost 180,000 convicted criminal aliens currently in removal proceedings who are living in our neighborhoods and almost 170,000 convicted criminal aliens who have been ordered removed yet are also living free.

According to new information provided to the Judiciary Committee by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and shared in advance of the hearing with Breitbart News, of the 30,558 criminal immigrants — convicted of 79,059 crimes — released last fiscal year, 1,423 went on to commute additional crimes after being released.

Johnson stressed that he is opposed to mandating detainer compliance. “I have said and I will say when I have to next testify before Congress on Tuesday that the best way to bring about what we want to do is through a cooperative relationship where we’re each agreeing to cooperate and partner with the other. I think that is the best and most effective way for us to do this.”

A federal judge isn’t messing around when it comes to any non-compliance with a court order halting President Obama’s executive action on immigration.

“This Court has expressed its willingness to believe that these actions were accidental and not done purposefully to violate this Court’s order. Nevertheless, it is shocked and surprised at the cavalier attitude the Government has taken with regard to its ‘efforts’ to rectify this situation,” Hanen wrote in his order.

CBS News reports that Friday the FBI and Department of Homeland Security issued a bulletin warning of possible attacks. The outlet notes that the bulletin is unrelated to the attacks in France, Tunisia and Kuwait.
