Memorial Day: Strength of Arms, Strength of Ideals

How about a few of you high-rolling elected officials try making do with a bit less luxury, and personally donate some of the obscene profits you’ve skimmed off hard-working taxpayers through endless decades of “service” to the VA? Memorial Day: A Fading Tradition of Shared National Experience

Amongst the finest and most noble traditions of the American people is the commemoration of Memorial Day. Originally known as “Decoration Day,” the modern Memorial Day holiday originates primarily from the last days of the American Civil War, the bloodiest and most traumatic conflict in American history. Although there is still much dispute over the location of the “very first” Memorial Day tribute, there was undoubtedly an explosion of communities across the country that attempted to pay homage to those whom they had lost in battle.

Obama Disgraces the Dead with False Claims of Success

There is no commitment to America’s fighting men and women that President Barack Obama has not broken. When he ran for office in 2008, he promised to leave a residual force in Iraq to secure that country against external meddling and internal collapse. When he took office, President George W. Bush handed over a relatively stable and secure Iraq, thanks to the “surge” Obama opposed, and thanks to the sacrifices made by thousands of Americans, killed and wounded in battle.
