A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after allegedly burning down a Phoenix, Arizona, LGBT youth center that he previously attended.

26-year-old Darren William Beach Jr allegedly set fire to the center in Phoenix after he was no longer able to attend, having reached the maximum age of 25 in 2016.

Before reaching the maximum age of attendance, Beach had reportedly been attending the center “on and off” for three years.

In a video of the incident, which took place on July 12, a man can be seen walking towards the center with a red gasoline can, before dousing the building moments before the fire erupted.

Linda Elliott, executive director of the “one.n.ten” center, claimed they were in “total shock” following the incident, which is not being considered as a “hate crime.”

“This news hurts,” Elliot declared in a statement. “Someone that you’ve provided services to and helped out, you just would not expect to come back to your center and do this sort of thing.”

The center has been closed indefinitely, with a temporary location currently replacing it. A new permanent location will reportedly be established in September.
