Facebook’s Vice President of Ads, Rob Goldman, has poured more cold water on the theory that Russian propaganda somehow swayed the 2016 election following the recent Mueller indictments, calling it a “media narrative.”

In a series of tweets, one of which was retweeted by President Trump, Goldman categorically stated that the goal of Russian-bought ads on Facebook was not to sway the election, but to “divide America.”

In a particularly severe blow for the media narrative, Goldman also revealed that the majority of Russian ad spending took place after the election.
