Barack Obama Makes Youth Appeal Based on Irresponsibility

Barack Obama is manipulating America’s youth again. Not satisfied with promising them hope and change in 2008, Obama told a high school audience in Durham, New Hampshire, that they should vote for him because he wouldn’t restrict access to birth control or defund Planned Parenthood.

“You can decide that instead of restricting access to birth control or defunding Planned Parenthood, we should make sure that in this country, women control their own health care choices. That’s up to you.”

Once again, Obama carries the banner for the Left; enabling the citizenry to engage in licentious behavior without being responsible for the consequences – and making others pay for it even if it violates their beliefs. You want a free abortion and a Catholic hospital to perform it? Fine. You want to make sure Planned Parenthood keeps getting funded so they can perform hundreds of thousands of abortions on demand? Fine.

Not content with appealing to their newfound sense of hormonal imbalance, Obama also appealed to their self-interest in another way:

“You can decide whether we keep our brave men and women in Afghanistan indefinitely, like Mr. Romney wants to do, or whether we stick to the timeline that I’ve set to finally bring our troops home. That’s up to you.”

Really? Obama gives a damn about the troops? Americans have been killed at a higher rate in Afghanistan under Obama than they ever were under Bush. Meanwhile, he has supported military action in places where no US interest is present, such as Libya.

Obama is such a liar about the war and his timelines; in 2010, he told disabled vets that he was the one ending combat operations in Iraq by the end of August. One problem: the timetable for withdrawal had been set by George W. Bush with the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) by U.S. and Iraq officials on Nov. 16, 2008. The Iraqi parliament signed SOFA on Nov. 27, 2008. But that didn’t stop Obama from claiming the idea as his own.

“As a candidate for president, I pledged to bring the war in Iraq to a responsible end. Shortly after taking office, I announced our new strategy for Iraq and for a transition to full Iraqi responsibility. And I made it clear that by August 31st, 2010, America’s combat mission in Iraq would end. And that is exactly what we are doing – as promised and on schedule.”

Not content with assuring students they could abort on demand and never have to worry about America’s military involvement, Obama followed with this:

“You can decide whether we keep Wall Street reform; whether ending taxpayer bailouts for Wall Street banks was the right thing to do; whether preventing insurance companies from discriminating against people who are sick is the right thing to do; whether over 3 million young people being able to stay on their parent’s health insurance plan is the right thing to do.  You can decide whether or not we go back to the days when you could be kicked out of the United States military just because of who you are and who you love (by the way, Mr. Smartest Man in the World, that’s whom.) You can decide whether or not it’s time to stop denying citizenship to responsible young people just because they’re the children of undocumented workers — who have been growing up with our kids and want to contribute to this country.”

Attack Wall Street? Check. Champion ObamaCare? Check. Gay rights in the military? Check. Grant illegal immigrants the same rights as legal citizens? Check.

What do all these issues have in common with abortion-on-demand and telling young people they will never have to go to war?

Simple. Obama tells the youth of America exactly what they want to hear: they will never, ever, ever, have to sacrifice anything of their own.  Just attack those who have what they do not (Wall Street), make the country pay for their health care (ObamaCare), give up any religious principles (gay rights), give up the idea that residency in a country requires some form of loyalty to that country (illegal immigration), and last, but certainly not least, enjoy sex without any personal responsibility (abortion-on-demand.)

Obama understands young people’s selfishness because he is a perpetual adolescent who has never had to be held accountable for any of his behavior. The question is, will the youth of America be more mature than he is?
