Funeral Director: Tsarnaev Died from Gunshot Wounds, Blunt Force Trauma

A funeral director says suspected Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev died of multiple gunshot wounds and “blunt force trauma to his head and torso.”

His time of death is listed as 1:35 AM on April 19–four days after the Boston Marathon bombing took place.

Tsarnaev, an ethnic Chechen, died after a gunfight with police. Police believe he ran out of ammunition and that his body was then dragged under the car in which his younger brother, Dzhokhar, fled.

Dzhokhar, who is now in custody, told interrogators that he and his brother initially planned to set off their bombs on the Fourth of July; after building the bombs, they decided to target the Boston Marathon instead.
