University of Miami Professor: If Bieber Wore Hoodie, No One Would Shoot Him Coming Home From 7-11

At a local event held at the new Harvest Missionary Baptist Church, the Miami-Dade chapter of the NAACP brought speakers in to discuss the fallout from the Trayvon Martin case. One of those speakers, University of Miami law professor Donald Jones, said, “If Justin Bieber was wearing a hoodie, throwing gang signs, wearing gold, have a tattoo, but no one is going to shoot him on his way home from the 7-11. I think there is an unmistakable issue of racism.”

NAACP Youth Leaders urged participants not to participate in civil disobedience if George Zimmerman is acquitted. State Representative Barbara Watson said that prior riots had harmed the city: “In some areas, we have never overcome some of the tragedies that impacted our community in the 80’s.”
