Nancy Pelosi: Republican Border Bill a 'Statement of Meanness'
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi denounced the Republican House border funding bill as a “statement of meanness” prior to a vote on the legislation.
“We know this bill isn’t getting anywhere… it is not a statement of values, it is a statement of meanness,” she said, calling the bill a “waste of time”
The bill would spend $659 million in response to the border crisis and make changes to the 2008 trafficking law.
Pelosi stated that the bill failed on many levels and argued that the American people wanted something more generous.
“They want to feed the children, there’s not enough resources here to do that,” she insisted, warning that the Republican bill would only “rush terrified children” back to their home countries.
“Let’s give the children a fair shot, let’s do better than this,” she said.
