NYT: Jeb Bush for President, 2016!
The mainstream media, which has been instrumental in convincing Republican primary voters to back the last two moderate presidential candidates, John McCain and Mitt Romney, is back with its newest suggestion: nominate Jeb Bush!
The New York Times is now suggesting that Bush may run for president in 2016. The Times reports that if Bush declared, widely-touted possible 2016 candidate Florida Senator Marco Rubio would back out of the race. According to the Times:
Mr. Bush is said by friends to be weighing financial and family considerations — between so many years in office and the recession his wealth took a dip, they said, and he has been working hard to restore it — as well as the complicated place within the Republican Party of the Bush brand. Asked this week about whether his father would run, Jeb Bush Jr. told CNN, “I certainly hope so.
The Times cites Bush’s appeal among Hispanics, especially because his wife was born and raised in Mexico, he is moderate on immigration, and he speaks Spanish. Bush has, not shockingly, refused to sign Grover Norquist’s no-tax pledge. He’s a big government moderate – sort of like John McCain and Mitt Romney. And a Bush candidacy would set up the Democrats’ ideal race: Bush vs. Clinton.
