Brit Hume: MD Event 'Confirms' Obama 'Rock Star' Image Is No More

On Monday’s “America’s Newsroom” on the Fox News Channel, network senior political analyst Brit Hume reacted to an event in Maryland held on Sunday for Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown (D-MD), the Democratic candidate for governor in that state, which was attended by President Barack Obama.

During that event, people reportedly left early in the middle of Obama’s portion.

“It sort of confirms what many of us, a lot of us have thought for some time – that the rock star image of President Obama is no more, and he is just not as interesting to people as he once was,” Hume said. “Members of his party are somewhat uninterested and demoralized fearing a big Republican win in a few weeks, and that race in Maryland, the Democrat is well ahead … the average suggests that race has already been won and so the urgency of the political situation there … the average in the race is plus-11 for the Democrat. So if that’s the case, you don’t have that down-to-wire sense of urgency for a candidate that appears to have the race well in hand and that may have drained some of the excitement out of the event, even though it was the president. Remember Martha, he still remains a rock star on the fundraising circuit and has certainly benefitted his party by raising very large sums of money for them this cycle.”
