Michael Moore: ‘Ban All Semi-Automatic Guns, Large Capacity’ Mags, and War

On July 11, director and gun control proponent Micheal Moore weighed in on the Dallas police ambush by calling for a ban on “all semi-automatic guns,” “large capacity ammo magazines,” and war.

Regarding war — Moore specifically called for an end to “sending young people to war who come back all messed up.” This appears to be a bait and switch, whereby Micah Xavier Johnson’s attack on Dallas police officers is blamed on military service overseas rather than the disdain for whites he himself expressed before being killed by Dallas police.

Moore tweeted: “We must ban all semi-automatic guns & large-capacity ammo magazines-AND we must stop sending young people to war who come back all messed up.”

It is worth noting that Moore owned a gun as recently as 2008, but he said he was thinking about “raffling it off” because he has so much security he does not need to personally possess a gun. And this is the great difference between Moore and the more than 100 million gun owners in America, the vast majority of whom cannot afford to hire security at levels sufficient to make it reasonable to forgo private gun ownership. Instead, they have to level the playing field by buying the magazine that holds the most bullets, in case of a home invasion where all invading suspects are armed.

Moreover, a semi-automatic firearm allows a single mom in a bad neighborhood to keep her family safe in settings and situations where a 5-shot revolver simply would not do. With a semi-automatic, a petite woman can fire larger rounds with less recoil, thereby controlling the shots and — in combination with a “large capacity” magazine — putting more shots on target.

But Michael Moore has so much security he does not have to worry about these things.
