Labour stay ahead in latest polls

Labour are comfortably maintaining their clear lead over the Conservatives, according to opinion polls published Sunday.

A ComRes poll for The Independent on Sunday and the Sunday Mirror put Labour on 36 percent, with the Tories on 31 percent, UKIP on 15 percent and the Liberal Democrats on eight percent.

Other parties were on 10 percent collectively.

ComRes interviewed 2,002 British adults online on Wednesday and Thursday.

Despite retaining an overall advantage, public faith in Labour’s ability to manage the economy is still lagging compared to the Conservatives.

The proportion trusting Prime Minister David Cameron and Chancellor George Osborne to “make the right decisions” on the economy stands at 27 percent while those disagreeing is at 51 percent.

Labour leader Ed Miliband and shadow chancellor Ed Balls’ ratings show 20 percent trusting them and 55 percent distrusting them.

In a separate YouGov survey of 1,871 adults conducted Thursday and Friday, Labour were 11 points ahead of the Conservatives.

The poll in The Sunday Times put Labour on 43 percent, the Tories on 32 percent, the Lib Dems on 12 percent and UKIP on eight percent.
