Salt Lake City to Build Village of Tiny Homes for the Homeless

The Salt Lake City Council voted Tuesday night to approve a land lease that will pave the way for the construction of a village of affordable tiny homes. The village will provide a cost-effective means of proving housing to the homeless population of the city. The project is modeled after an already successful program in Austin, Texas.

L.A. Homeless Population Grew During Pandemic, but at Slower Pace

The homeless population in Los Angeles County grew 4.1% over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, reaching 69,144 people, according to statistics released Thursday by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA). The City of Los Angeles also saw an increase, albeit a smaller one of 1.7%, bringing the total to 41,980 homeless people.
