Zuckerman: Obama Econ Platform ‘Doesn’t Address’ Problems

US News and World Report Chairman and Editor-in-Chief and publisher of the New York Daily News, Mort Zuckerman argued that President Obama’s economic plan “doesn’t address what is happening in this country” on Friday’s “McLaughlin Group.”

While Zuckerman said that the State of the Union “brilliant…as a speech,” he added “the substance was a whole other matter.” “The problem with what he was talking about is it doesn’t address what is happening in this country, which is the erosion of the quality of work. It’s not just the quantity of work, you have today, if you take in people who are involuntary, part-time workers and you count them as what they really are, they’re sort of half-employed, the real unemployment rate is about 11.2% according to the government. The economy is very weak, and he’s got to find some ways to improve the economy, he had a lot of good programs, in a situation in which you get past the issue of employment. But to my mind employment, and good employment is the key to everything” Zuckerman stated.
