Wendy Davis Ad Uses Empty Wheelchair to Attack Paraplegic Greg Abbott

***UPDATE: The Abbott campaign has already responded to the ad:

“It is challenging to find language strong enough to condemn Sen. Davis’ disgusting television ad, which represents a historic low for someone seeking to represetn Texans,” said Abbott spokeswoman Amelia Chase. “Sen. Davis’ ad shows a disturbing lack of judgment from a desperate politician and completely disqualifies her from seeking higher office in Texas.”

Democrat gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis has just launched a new attack ad against her opponent, Republican Greg Abbott, that features an empty wheelchair. Abbott, the current Attorney General of Texas, has been a wheelchair-bound paraplegic since 1984 after a tree fell on him:

Davis, who became a national media sensation after holding a symbolic filibuster in opposition to laws that would require safer abortion clinics, has made one misstep after another during her ill-fated bid to replace Rick Perry. After the abortion extremist was caught fabricating the very biography that was a large part of her appeal, people questioned if Davis was ready for primetime.

This ham-fisted, desperate, and mean-spirited campaign ad will only add to those questions.

In the current Real Clear Politics poll of polls, Abbott currently enjoys a 42-39% lead over Davis.
