It all started when a University alumnus made a $3 million dollar donation to fund the position of Director of Islamic Studies at Duke University. Bettye Martin Musham, who gifted the Islamic Studies Center with the vast sum of money, said that she was convinced that it was the right thing to do after hearing a lecture on the meaning of jihad. Musham said that she and her husband would later become “hooked with the importance of Islam.”

New Charlie Hebdo Print Run Boosted To 5 Million

The newest Charlie Hebdo magazine, which went on sale throughout France Wednesday, reportedly sold out almost immediately. The three million copy print run has now been boosted to five million, AFP reports.

French Muslim Students Yell “Allahu Akbar,” Dishonor Moment Of Silence For Charlie Hebdo Victims

Throughout many schools in France, Muslim students refused to comply with a moment of silence to honor the victims of the Charlie Hebdo massacre. While some spoke obnoxiously loudly during the 60 second period, others yelled “Allahu Akbar!” or “God is great.” In another incident, a group of young Muslims dishonored the moment of silence, telling their teacher, “You reap what you sow,” the Washington Post reports.

Pakistani Imam Hosts Parade Honoring Charlie Hebdo Killers

An Imam in Peshawar, Pakistan hosted a parade on Tuesday to honor the two Al Qaeda-linked brothers who were responsible for carrying out the jihadi retribution killings of twelve at the offices of Charlie Hebdo.

French President Told Israeli PM Netanyahu Not To Attend Paris Rally

French President Francois Hollande told his counterpart, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, not to attend the Paris rally in the wake of the jihadist attacks against Charlie Hebdo and the Jewish market last week, for fear that the Israeli PM’s presence might upset those troubled with his stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Saudi Fatwa: No Snowmen!

A Saudi religious authority, Mohamed Saleh Al Minjed, issued a fatwa (religious edict) that making snowmen or snow animals is not compliant with the teachings of Islam. Supporters of the fatwa said that even if the snow creations are created out of good fun, they must be rejected, because it is what people in corrupted Western cultures do. Al Minjed said only figures without a “soul,” such as structures, food, or vehicles, can be recreated with snow.
