George and Amal Clooney have announced they will donate $500,000 to the upcoming student march for gun control.

Although the event is officially titled “March for Our Lives,” Buzzfeed reported that student organizers admit it is about pushing gun control:

George told People magazine that they are donating the half-million dollars in honor of his eight-month-old twins, Ella and Alexander.

He said:

Amal and I are so inspired by the courage and eloquence of these young men and women from Stoneman Douglas High School. Our family will be there on March 24 to stand side by side with this incredible generation of young people from all over the country, and in the name of our children Ella and Alexander, we’re donating $500,000 to help pay for this groundbreaking event.

In addition to donating, the Clooneys pledge to attend the March 24 event as well. They join numerous other celebrities who have already voiced support for the gun control march.

On February 18 Breitbart News reported that Julianne Moore, Josh Gad, Alyssa Milano, and others were rallying behind the march.
