Jeff Zucker: 'Poop Cruise' More Important to CNN than Four Dead Americans in Benghazi

CNN boss Jeff Zucker believes that a “poop cruise” is more important than four Americans, including a U.S. Ambassador, who were killed by terrorists in Benghazi in 2012.

Zucker said Tuesday that his network will not be “shamed” into covering Benghazi, even after the network has gone all in on its coverage of less trivial events like the “poop cruise.”

“We’re not going to be shamed into it by others who have political beliefs that want to try to have temper tantrums to shame other news organizations into covering something,” he said Monday night at an awards dinner in New York, according to Capital New York. “If it’s of real news value, we’ll cover it.”

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) will head a Select Committee to discover why the Obama administration tried to blame the terrorist attacks in Libya on a YouTube video. Zucker heads a network that was once referred to as the “Clinton News Network,” and his comments indicate CNN will not give much coverage to the hearings that may harm Hillary Clinton, who was the Secretary of State when the Benghazi attack occurred and may be preparing for a 2016 presidential run.

Fox News clobbers CNN in the ratings. In accepting his prestigious Bradley Award last year, Fox News boss Roger Ailes explained that his network “covered Benghazi when four Americans were killed, even though no other network would touch the story.”

“It’s an important story because it involves two hundred years of our military ethos, which is: If we ask you to go out in the middle of the night and risk your life for America, we promise that we will backstop you. And try to get you out if it is humanly possible,” Ailes said. “In Benghazi we did not do that.”
