Man Dies After Asking Friend To Test Bullet Proof Vest

A 25-year-old South Carolina man is dead after asking a friend to shoot him in order to test out a bullet proof vest. According to Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown, the victim, Blake Randall Wardell, discovered the vest in a garage early Wednesday morning while hanging out with friends at a property on Broadmouth Church Road.

Wardell reportedly asked an 18-year-old friend, Taylor Ann Kelly to shoot him. She fired a small caliber weapon but the bullet missed the Kevlar and pierced his heart, according to McCown.

Police say several people unsuccessfully attempted CPR and Wardell died from the wound.
On Wednesday, Kelly was charged with involuntary manslaughter, and if convicted, could face up to five years in prison.
