Indiana Police reported that an unknown individual made a 9/11 bomb threat to blow-up a middle school in Martinsville, Indiana, on the anniversary of the terrorists attacks of 2001. Martinsville is located southwest of Indianapolis.

Martinsville police posted a Facebook message alerting residents on Wednesday morning September 9th.

The police department warned citizens that the individual said they would blow up Bell East Middle School on September 11th.

Police officials declined to expose how the threat was communicated and would only say “he or she” claimed they would blow up the school.

Fox 59 News in Indianapolis reported the threat was posted on social media.

The police department assured residents that they were placing more officers at the schools. They said that the local police department is also contacting other agencies to assist with investigation of the threat.

The Facebook post stated, “The validity of the threat is also unknown, but please be assured it is being taken very seriously.”

The department also told residents that they would be updated as soon as there was more information.

As reported by the local Fox News affiliate, the school is sending a letter to all parents. Among other things it states, “The District continues to cooperate with law enforcement, and we will keep parents, staff and students informed as we learn more.” The school letter says “that the threat is not directed at any particular person.”

The city is located in the central portion of the state and it has a population of approximately 12,000 citizens.

It is unknown why Bell East Middle School was specifically targeted.

The Facebook comments to the post thank the police department for the updates. They also suggest that the elementary school and high school should also be watched.
