Ahead of former FBI special counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony before Congress on Wednesday, CNN’s Jake Tapper addressed claims by Republicans that the Obama administration set up President Donald Trump.
Tapper said during the “New Day” coverage of the testimony that the “theory” by Republicans is “not based on fact.”
“[O]ne of the other things that’s going on here that I suspect we’re going to hear in both hearings is Republicans have this counter narrative, not necessarily grounded in fact, but grounded in theory, that the Obama administration — again, this is not based on fact, the Obama administration basically set Trump up, that this is all just a hoax,” Tapper advised.
“And I imagine we’re going to hear some of that today,” he warned.
