Children’s Charity Warned Police Of Aylesbury Grooming Gang Eight Years Ago, Took ‘Insufficient Action’

Authorities were warned by a children’s charity about the ongoing abuse of a white 12-year-old girl in the town of Aylesbury by a Muslim grooming gang eight years ago, but took “insufficient action”, it is claimed.

Two days ago, six out of eleven men put of trial from the Aylesbury area were convicted of crimes including rape, child prostitution and drugging between 2006 and 2012.

The two victims were abused in cars, vans, flats and even their own homes, it was heard at the Old Bailey. One was passed between 60 men, “almost all Asian” according to the prosecutor, for sex when she was just 12 and 13.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4‘s Today Programme, Michelle Lee-Izu of the children’s charity Barnardo’s revealed that they had worked with both the girls in 2008, and made a referral to the appropriate agencies about one. She said:

“In 2008, we worked with both these young people and our work with these young women was very specific to them as individuals.

“We had concerns about the safety of one young woman and we made a referral to the local authority and the relevant agencies.

“At that time, the agencies didn’t respond in a way that we wanted, that we expected them to, although some actions were taken by the local authority, so we escalated those actions further.

“But insufficient action was taken as far as we were concerned.”

Aylesbury is a small conservative market town in Buckinghamshire, which has become just the latest place to be plagued by a Muslim rape gang after Oxford, Rotherham, Sheffield, Manchester and others. The revelation that the authorities ignored warnings mirrors what happened in other cases.

An independent report by the National Crime Agency into Rotherham Council found it was “not fit for purpose” and was still “in denial.” The Authorities allowed the rape gangs to continue with impunity “for fear of being seen as racist” and a “deep-rooted” culture of bullying, silence and “shoot the messenger.”

Breitbart London reported earlier this week that a post inspection review by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary found the South Yorkshire Police force serving Rotherham is still failing child sex exploitation victims in the area, a year after criticisms were first levelled at their handling of the situation.
