COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) – Three people suspected of preparing an act of terror were arrested Monday in Stockholm’s northern suburbs, with officials saying the case has international links.

Sweden’s domestic intelligence agency SAPO says the three were arrested for terror-related activities in several locations in greater Stockholm. SAPO said they had been on the agency’s radar for a while.

The agency says several other people have been brought in for questioning.

Intelligence agency spokeswoman Nina Odermalm Schei told Sweden’s TT news agency that the case “has international links but we can’t say which countries we are talking about.”

Tabloid Aftonbladet said one of the suspects was from Uzbekistan.

“We have no indications right now that this was an assault that was scheduled to happen in the next few days,” Odermalm Schei told TT.

SAPO added that the terror threat in Sweden remains “unchanged” at a rating of three on a five-degree scale, which is “an increased threat.”

In April 2017, an Uzbek man rammed a stolen truck into a shopping crowd in Stockholm, killing five people and injuring 14 others. He said he did it to punish Sweden for joining a coalition fighting the Islamic State group.
