Woman Creates ‘Kindness Postcard’ to Help Those Self-Isolating Due to Coronavirus

A woman from the United Kingdom has created a heartwarming new way to help people who are self-quarantining due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Becky Wass, 32, has created a fill-in-the-blank postcard template to be printed out and shared within the community to enable people to help others living a life apart.

The postcard states, “Hello! If you are self-isolating, I can help,” and then gives space for people to fill out their contact information and whether they would like help with groceries, delivering mail, or whether they would just like a phone call.

Wass’s husband Jonny Green tweeted an image of the card on Friday, urging the community to wash their hands and print out the card.

The tweet quickly spread on social media with the hashtag #viralkindness.

Wass said she was inspired to create the postcard after watching the news and feeling a sense of helplessness.

“I’ve been feeling pretty helpless watching the news. Maybe you have too? I wanted to do something about it, so I’ve made a postcard that I’ll be posting to my older neighbours as this progresses (after washing my hands!),” Wass wrote on her Facebook page Thursday.

“If just one person feels less lonely or isolated when faced with this pandemic, then I’ll feel better about it (I hope!) Coronavirus is scary. Let’s make kindness go viral. Feel free to share/print/use.”

People on the neighborhood-focused website Nextdoor are also posting offers to run errands to those homebound by the coronavirus. The site’s community team has sponsored advertisements encouraging people to “Get involved and help your neighbors.”
