GOP Senator Pushing to Label Ft. Hood Shooting Terrorism

GOP Senator Pushing to Label Ft. Hood Shooting Terrorism

On Oct 21 I had a post which examined the Obama admin’s labeling of the Ft. Hood shooting as “workplace violence” instead of an act of terror. I looked at how the difference between these two labels is literally the difference between soldiers getting or not getting the recognition they deserve for being wounded in service to our country.

In other words, the “workplace violence” label puts those who were wounded and the families of those who were killed in a position where they cannot draw the benefits they otherwise could for wounds received in service to our country.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is now championing this cause, saying the very label “workplace violence” in this particular attack “is not fair” to the victims or to the victims’ families.

Said Graham:

Based on what we already know, this episode fits squarely into the realm of an act of terrorism. I will be working with my colleagues in the Senate to challenge this characterization by the Pentagon and push for an accurate description of the tragic incident that took place Fort Hood. It was terrorism and it should be described that way.
