Nov. 4 (UPI) — The 2025 College football Playoff will open Dec. 19 and include a Dec. 20 triple-header, the College Football Playoff, ESPN and TNT Sports announced Tuesday.
“We are pleased to work with both ESPN and TNT Sports to deliver these first-round games to fans across the country in premier viewing windows,” College Football Playoff executive director Rich Clark said in a news release.
“We also appreciate the collaboration with the NFL in coordinating schedules to best serve fans of both college and professional football. This all reflects the growing reach and excitement surrounding the new Playoff format, and we look forward to showcasing the best of college football on both networks.”
The second year of the 12-team playoff will launch with a first-round game at 8 p.m. EST Dec. 19 on ABC and ESPN. The Dec. 20 slate will start with a noon matchup on the same networks. The second games of the triple-header will air at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m., respectively, on TNT, TruTV and HBO Max.
The four first-round matchups will be held on campuses and announced Dec. 7.
The College Football Playoff will continue with the first quarterfinal — the Cotton Bowl — at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 31 in Arlington, Texas.
The three other quarterfinals will be held Jan. 1, starting with the Orange Bowl at noon in Miami Gardens, Fla. The Rose Bowl will follow at 4 p.m. in Pasadena, Calif. The final quarterfinal — the Sugar Bowl — will be held at 8 p.m. in New Orleans.
The first semifinal — the Fiesta Bowl — will be held at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 8 in Glendale, Ariz. The other semifinal — the Peach Bowl — will take place at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in Atlanta.
The College Football Playoff national title game will be at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.
The quarterfinals, semifinals and finale will air on ESPN. The first edition of College Football Playoff rankings for 2025-26 will be released at 8 p.m. Tuesday on ESPN.
