Oct. 16 (UPI) — Tyler Perry has a new film in the works.
Netflix released a trailer Friday for Tyler Perry’s The Gospel of Christmas, a new holiday film starring singer and actor Tank and American Idol Season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino.
The Gospel of Christmas follows Isaac (Tank), a struggling pastor, and his wife Rebecca (Barrino), as they attempt to rebuild Isaac’s family church in a rough New York neighborhood.
As Isaac “battles doubt, temptation, and a sinister adversary, he must rediscover his faith and the power of prayer to save his church, his family, and his community,” an official synopsis reads.
The film celebrating music and faith also features cast members Fred Hammond, Ann Nesby, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Hezekiah Walker, Jacky Clark Chisholm, Twinkie Clark, Dorinda Clark, Karen Clark Sheard, Ricco Ross, Chante Moore, Yolanda Adams, CeCe Winans and Vanessa Bell Armstrong.
“The vision for The Gospel of Christmas started with me listening to the songs that inspired me, that got me through some really, really rough times,” Perry told Netflix’s Tudum.
“It was really important to me to have some of the most incredible gospel artists there are on the planet to be a part of helping me tell the story,” he added.
Tyler Perry’s The Gospel of Christmas premieres Nov. 11 on Netflix.
