GoFundMe removed Phoenix ‘Draw Muhammad’ contest organizer Jon Ritzheimer’s campaign to raise money for his family’s safety from their site.

Breitbart News previously reported that Ritzheimer’s family went into hiding before the “Draw Muhammad” event began and Ritzheimer himself went to hiding afterward the event was over. He did this under the threat of being beheaded.

Then, according to Mediaite, he launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to keep his family safe.

Ritzheimer announced the campaign thus:

Hello to all my fellow Americans, I am starting this campaign to humbly ask for donations so that I may provide security for my family. I don’t fear for myself but I fear for them and it is truly sad that any American would have to endure something like [this].

Mediate reports that GoFundMe shut down the campaign only hours after it appeared.

On Monday at 7:48 am, KPNX reporter Brahm Resnik tweeted that the page for the “guy who incited anti-Islam rally” had been taken down.
