The Plattsburgh-Press Republican is reporting that the DNA of at least one of the two convicts who escaped from the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York on the evening of June 5/morning of June 6 has been found in a cabin in the Town of Malone, New York, just a few miles from the Canadian border.

Police have confirmed DNA from fugitives Richard Matt and David Sweat at a second camp in Franklin County, the Press-Republican has learned.

Matt, 49, and Sweat, 35, escaped from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora early on June 6, and DNA last week confirmed they broke into a hunting camp in Mountain View last Saturday.

Informed sources tell the Press-Republican that forensic confirmation came back Thursday night that at least one of them was also in a cabin in the Town of Malone.

Signs of intrusion were found, prompting the lab testing and the focus on that community and nearby Constable on Wednesday.

Just before 7 a.m. today, automated phone calls alerted residents in Malone and Constable to expect an increased police presence.

The investigation and search, which involves 1,100 local, state and federal personnel, is covering a 75-square-mile area of rough terrain.

“DNA was from convicted murderer Richard Matt, sources tell Press-Republican,” Press-Republican editor Lois Clermont tweeted at 11:15 am eastern time.

The Town of Constable, to the immediate north of the Town of Malone, is on the Canadian border. The northernmost point of the Town of Malone is approximately 5 miles from the Canadian border. The southern most point of the town of Malone is approximately 12 miles from the Canadian border.

Mohawk Council of Akwesasne land is just 10 miles from Constable. The border is 5 miles from Constable,” one source familiar with the search tells Breitbart News.

“Mohawk Council of Akwesasne police are helping with the search, setting up roadblocks, but there’s a large criminal network in that territory of smuggling. Plus, there’s no love lost between the residents and Governor Cuomo after Cuomo screwed them on cigarette sales,” the source tells Breitbart News.

“Those sensors on the border should tag them when they cross,” another source tells Breitbart News.

“The border patrols has sensors every so many miles, as well as cameras in open areas in an attempt to catch crossers. They detect motion to a central area,” the source tells Breitbart News.

UPDATE:

“DNA confirmation from cabin in Town of Malone came from feces sample, Press-Republican told,” Press-Republican editor Lois Clermont tweeted at 12:45 pm eastern on Friday.
