The plan to resettle thousands of Syrian refugees in the U.S. is a “recipe for disaster” and must be defunded, Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX) says.

“All we have to do is look at Paris now,” Babin says on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily, speaking of the terrorist attack that killed 129 people last week.

Babin has been raising concerns about the cost of refugees since July when he introduced legislation to halt all refugee resettlement to the U.S. until the Government Accountability Office can audit its cost to taxpayers. Babin has also raised specific concerns about the threats posed by Islamic terrorists who may seek to infiltrate the U.S. as refugees.

“Not only do I have this bill but we’re circulating a letter amongst my colleagues to send to the leadership to defund [Syrian refugee resettlement in the U.S.] by attaching it to the omnibus bill,” he said. “I think this is the best shot we have.”

According to the Texas lawmaker, defunding the plan is Congress’ best change to stop the plan as President Obama “basically doubled down” on the plan Monday.

“It’s a violation of our oath of office to protect Americans and uphold the national security of this country to let people in with this reckless program that he’s got,” he said.

“This refugee program is going to be infiltrated. ISIS has promised to infiltrate,” Babin added, noting that at least one of the Paris attackers was reportedly a “refugee.”

Babin called for a plan for people to press their congressmen to oppose Obama’s efforts in a “mass uprising”.

And of potential comparisons of the refugees to Mary and Jesus, Babin said “Mary and Jesus didn’t have suicide bomb vests strapped on them and these folks do.”
