Obama: Paris Climate Agreement ‘Best Chance We Have to Save the One Planet We’ve Got’

After nearly two weeks of talks, President Barack Obama praised the completion of the Paris climate agreement Saturday, calling it “a turning point for the world.”

The agreement, which the United States and nearly 200 other countries agreed to, commits the countries to take steps over time to cut their greenhouse gas pollution.

Obama acknowledged that no deal is perfect, but he feels this newly-signed deal will be best.

“This agreement represents the best chance we have to save the one planet we’ve got,” he said.

He also noted the “skeptics” that think this deal would kill jobs, but he dismissed that by saying, “Instead we’ve seen the longest streak of private sector job creation in our history.”

The deal has Obama now feeling better about the planet for generations to come.

“Today we can be more confident that this planet is going to be in better shape for the next generation,” he said.
