The Obama administration praised House Speaker John Boehner’s sense of humor after he starred in a comedic video with the president for the White House Correspondents Dinner last weekend.

“Speaker Boehner has a well known and very good sense of humor and I think he made a very positive contribution to our comedic efforts of the film,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said during the press briefing this afternoon.

The video featured Boehner giving Obama advice on what to do after he left the White House and offering the president a cigarette.

Earnest revealed that the video was filmed at the White House after the former speaker caused a firestorm with his remarks about Sen. Ted Cruz, calling him “Lucifer in the flesh” and a “son of a bitch.”

Boehner was an “enthusiastic participant” in the video, Earnest confirmed, although the pair didn’t speak at length.

“There was not a detailed discussion of those comments. No,” Earnest said, when asked about the comments by reporters.
