Angel Wife: Debbie Wasserman Schultz Did ‘Nothing’ to Help Me Keep Illegal Alien Killer in Custody

Reps. Bill Nelson (D-FL) and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) did “nothing” to keep an illegal immigrant killer in custody following his arrest for killing two paramedics, said Angel wife Dawn Witherspoon on Friday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight in an interview with Breitbart News’s Senior Editor-at-Large Rebecca Mansour.

Witherspoon’s husband, 36-year-old paramedic Paul Besaw, was killed alongside his paramedic colleague, 51-year-old Lahiri Garcia, when both were struck and killed in an ambulance by Genaro Delacruz Alqui, an unlicensed drunk driving illegal alien from Guatemala.

The crash happened on June 1 of 2017 in Jupiter, FL.

Alqui’s blood alcohol level was 0.189 – more than triple Florida’s legal limit of 0.08 – when he killed Besaw and Garcia, said Witherspoon. He also had previous citations from police due to driving infractions, she said.

“He had already been touched by law enforcement numerous times,” said Witherspoon. “He changed his name three times … so it’s a little hard to track him down. I do know from the local police office that he has been picked up a couple of times [for] different driving issues.”

The Palm Beach Post reported on Alqui’s record of traffic violations:

Palm Beach County records show Ajqui was cited several times for traffic violations over the years.

In the span of 10 years, he was cited three times for driving without a license and once for not having a tag for his car. Each time he pleaded guilty and paid a fine, according to records. On Christmas Eve 2015, he was cited for passing in a no-pass zone and paid the civil penalty.

Each time, Ajqui was pulled over by Jupiter police.

Following the killing of her husband, Witherspoon sought assistance from Florida Democrats Nelson and Wasserman Schultz in pursuing justice.

“Nobody would help me once my husband was dead and this guy went for his first appearance in the court house,” said Witherspoon. “They wanted to give [Alqui] bond and let him out. … They might get that bond. So here I am, fourteen days out from my husband being murdered, thinking, ‘What can I do to get him to stay in jail. He’s illegal. Why is there not an ICE hold on him? Why is there not a detainer on him?’ So I call [Debbie Wasserman Schultz], and she does nothing. Her office won’t even return my calls because it didn’t fit her agenda. I called Bill Nelson, and it didn’t fit his agenda, either.”

Witherspoon contrasted Nelson’s and Wasserman Schultz’s conduct with that of Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), whom she praised as an “amazing guy.” “The fact that [Brian Mast] helped me was just amazing,” said Witherspoon, crediting Mast with helping procure an ICE detainer for Alqui.

The news media suppresses information about linkages between illegal immigration and crime, said Witherspoon – an impression shared by other Angel family members. “In this process, I have learned that the media is very afraid to tell people that it’s an illegal alien,” she said.

Witherspoon expressed opposition to amnesty proposals, echoing the pledge of The Remembrance Project: “We need to help Donald Trump enforce all of his campaign promises.”
