Drought: Another California Dam Releases Water

The Federal Bureau of Reclamation accelerated water releases from Lake Shasta earlier this month from 5,000 to 20,000 cubic feet per second over concerns that the reservoir could overflow, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Powerful rainstorms brought on by the record Pacific El Niño have succeeded in filling up California’s largest reservoirs, including Folsom Lake, but it may not be enough to pull the state out of what is quickly shaping up to be a fifth year of devastating drought.

Drought: All Boats Ordered out of Folsom Lake

This Father’s Day, dads with boats at Folsom Lake received disappointing news as they were forced to pull their boats from the marina due to low water levels resulting from California’s fourth year of drought. Sunday also coincided with the first day of summer.
